Becoming

I find it interesting that the equation 6am + golf = no problem, where as 6am + anything not golf = impossible.

I think we humans are really good at becoming. It’s just that sometimes we are really bad at becoming the right things. Rather we like it or not we are constantly becoming. Either I am becoming a good father or just a grown man that pays the bills, comes home for dinner, and leaves again in the morning.

Humans are creatures of habit. Great humans are creatures of good habits. These great humans I speak of have no super powers, there is no advantage above for example me a lesser human, they just want to become someone greater. Now hold on, I must give me and the other lesser humans some credit. I believe that most of us want to become something greater, but not at the expense of T.V. and sloth. I could say I am being too hard on myself, but am I? I only have one chance to become the person I came down here to become.

Someday when I pass beyond the clouds will I see my reflection and recognize who I became or will I shrink in disappointment.

Does that ever hit home! So many times I feel as though I don't have the time to do "this" or "that". "No, I don't have time to play with you in the park, or to come and hang out with you and watch you grow". But I have time to watch this or play that! What an eye opener. I guess I need to work on becoming more of the adult I want my children to be. I love your blog. Thanks for being so honest with your readers and most important with yourself.

Hey Darais'

I found your blog off of Leah Powell's. I hope you don't mind. You're a good writer. And I think I can speak for both Michael and I when I say we totally wonder the same things.

The other day we were enclosing our front porch. Well, you could say I wasthe supervisor (heehee). I noticed a fuzzy little caterpillar winding his way up the tree, probably looking for something a little greener and more succulent then the bark on the tree. He was a lovely little yellow and black striped creation. His little fuzzy hairs looked as if they could tickle one pretty easily. How beautiful are all God's creations, even the little caterpillar, but the thought struck me at what the little caterpiller would become later down the line. Abeautiful butterfly of course, but he has to go through a metamorphosis, a change to become extraordinary. It reminds me of my life, and maybe like all our lives?? What is the metamorphosis each of us goes through to become truly extraordinary? Now the caterpillar, he is born with an in built knowledge that he must go from a caterpillar to a butterfly, he knows that he must eat till he feels like he might pop and then he must find a place of protection and build his little cocoon around himself, barring out all the adversities that might destroy his chances of becoming the beautiful butterfly. If the cocoon isn't built to last then he won't survive a harsh cold winter. I wonder if the little caterpillar puts all his faith in his Creator when he seals himself up inside the shell. I wonder about the patience he must have to tolerate being inside the cocoon for so long? Now of course we as humans cannot seal ourselves up inside of a shell and hope it will protect us from the adversities of the world, but we can clothe ourselves with the spirit of Christ, we can search for our Father in Heaven every moment of the day. I can hinestly say, that once I turned to God on a daily basis, that He comforts me, and I am protected from the evil things of the world. If we, like the little caterpillar have faith that everything will turn out fine then a real metamorphosis happens. So the answers are pretty simple to me, putting God first in all I do and think and say! It has changed me, it has taken years and some tears, but once we put ourselves in the hands of the Creator, he begins to mold us, to shape us, into who we really are. Maybe not a butterfly, but a son or daughter of God! The metamorphosis is a ontinuing thing and I have a long ways to go. We all do! I say hold to the rod and never stop having faith! Just like the little caterpillar! God Bless, Susan

Who are we to become? While Christ was in the Americas, He asked, "what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am (3 Nephi 27:27)." Jesus Christ asked us to become like Him!

President Kimball stated, "In urging us to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect, Jesus was not taunting us or teasing us. He was telling us a powerful truth about our possibilities and about our potential. It is a truth almost too stunning to contemplate. Jesus, who could not lie, sought to beckon us to move further along the pathway to perfection."

Remember that we are to become like Jesus Christ.

Elder Oaks clearly stated this when he said, "The Apostle Paul taught that the Lord’s teachings and teachers were given that we may all attain “the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). This process requires far more than acquiring knowledge. It is not even enough for us to be convinced of the gospel; we must act and think so that we are converted by it. In contrast to the institutions of the world, which teach us to know something, the gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to become something."

:D Remember to become like our Savior, and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
